Fewer standards, more leeway: Building type E represents a new approach to planning and construction. The "E" stands for simple, experimental and efficient.

The goal is to plan buildings in a more needs-based and economical way. Instead of automatically implementing all currently standard comfort and equipment features, the following questions are asked: What is actually necessary for a good, durable and safe building?

This allows, for example, simplified designs, reduced technical systems, or the elimination of unnecessary comfort features. Safety and essential public-law requirements are, of course, maintained.

Building type E is not a defined building standard.. Rather, it opens up new possibilities for building owners and planners to work together. simple, robust and economical solutions to develop, or in other words:

„"Building type E is not a mandatory building standard. Developers and planners consciously choose this approach to avoid unnecessary standards and thus build more simply and economically."“

This applies to both new buildings and building renovations.

Especially given high construction costs, this approach can help to, to create affordable housing, conserve resources and simplify planning and construction processes.
