Demolition of a dilapidated barn attached to an existing residential building. Construction of a new three-story extension to low-energy standards, featuring timber-framed exterior walls and timber joist ceilings. The exterior walls were built with a total thickness of 20 cm (including the service cavity). The interior walls were also constructed using timber framing. The design we chose was a structural and aesthetic response to the existing half-timbered house, dating from 1934. The project aimed to meet the client's desire for a cost-effective new building with a high degree of owner participation and a short construction time.
